a true passion for babies and children

Sinéad is an absolute pleasure to have in our home. She balances the professional and personable boundary very well. Sinéad has personally helped me through some very difficult days and as a family we hope to be life-long friends as the kindness she showed to our family is invaluable.

As early as I can remember I have had a love for children and a desire to care for them. I grew up in a large Irish family with a huge number of cousins of varying ages which gave me plenty of opportunities for babysitting and learning to care for infants.

These were some of my fondest memories and as such this desire led me to train as a Nanny, securing my first full time position in 1998. I was also lucky enough to travel to the Middle East, Asia and Australia throughout my nannying career caring for many different families and learning about other cultures, which was fascinating.

In 2014 I felt my real passion was caring for newborn babies and I discovered I was very passionate about helping new mums with any issues they were facing, so I underwent maternity nurse training, which included courses in breastfeeding, sleep training, caring for twins and triplets, and post natal depression (PND), giving me a special focus on working with mums with PND, and later on Post Partum Psychosis.

In 2017 I discovered that I was due to become a mum myself. This was a surprise to say the least as I had been told that I was not able to have children. I found out I was 22 weeks pregnant and going to have a son all on the same day!

My own experience of becoming a mother has given me a greater understanding of the natural fears and concerns all parents face at the start of their parental journey. It has also increased my understanding and ability to offer compassionate, yet practical advice, and to support new mums and dads the way I would have wanted to have been dealt with, whilst being confronted with the same challenges as a new parent.

Sinéad instantly fitted the bill – we found her open, communicative and friendly. Our baby appeared to take to her, and this rapport quickly grew over the first few weeks. She is a highly friendly and warm person with a lovely sense of humour too! Many nights, I found myself chatting to her in the nursery when I was unable to fall asleep easily and had popped out to get water or a snack. She was great at providing moral support to me as a new mum.

I couldn’t recommend Sinéad more highly – only sorry she couldn’t have stayed with us forever. We also have a little dog who is easily as demanding as our babies and Sinéad totally took this in her stride and took care of all three of them for us whilst we had a short break away.

Sinéad came to work alongside me and my 9 week old twins for 3 weeks last October and we loved having her around. I’m a first-time mum who didn’t have much experience and Sinéad came just at the right time. She was calm, patient, caring, friendly, approachable and extremely knowledgeable. She instantly made me feel at ease and she taught me things I would have never known.
